Infineon and Silicon Austria Labs Open Ultra-Wideband Application Lab in Graz

Infineon Technologies AG, in collaboration with Silicon Austria Labs, has announced the opening of a dedicated Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Application Lab in Graz, Austria. The new facility is designed to accelerate the development, testing, and integration of UWB-based applications across automotive, industrial, IoT, and consumer markets.

Equipped with advanced test systems, motion-capture tools, and autonomous platforms, the lab enables precise and reproducible evaluation of UWB performance in real-world conditions. Engineers and researchers can validate key use cases such as secure access, precise localization, and in-vehicle positioning—bridging the gap between chip-level innovation and market-ready solutions.

According to Maurizio Skerlj, Senior Vice President at Infineon Connected Secure Systems, the new UWB lab underscores Infineon’s commitment to secure connectivity. It will serve as a key driver in realizing the full promise of UWB technology, powering safer and more intelligent experiences across vehicles and connected devices.

Silicon Austria Labs emphasized that the lab will serve as an open hub for joint research and customer collaboration, supporting Europe’s broader goal of advancing semiconductor and system-level innovation locally.

As UWB adoption continues to expand in automotive, industrial, and consumer applications, the Graz lab reinforces Infineon’s commitment to enabling secure, high-precision connectivity through close cooperation between research and industry.
