Global technology leader Cisco and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) have announced the launch of a new AI Institute in Saudi Arabia, aimed at accelerating research in artificial intelligence, edge computing, and autonomous mobility.
The partnership will focus on developing advanced AI-driven infrastructure that supports the Kingdom’s goals under Vision 2030, which aims to position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for technology and innovation. The new institute is expected to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world applications.
According to both organizations, the institute will explore how AI and edge technologies can make future systems more efficient, secure, and sustainable: from smart cities and autonomous vehicles to next-generation industrial systems. It will also serve as a platform for training local talent and developing new AI solutions that can benefit industries across the Middle East and beyond.
This collaboration strengthens Cisco’s growing presence in Saudi Arabia, where it has been supporting national digital transformation projects through its Country Digital Acceleration program.
Both Cisco and KAUST highlighted their shared vision of creating a collaborative ecosystem that connects academia, industry, and government to drive meaningful advances in AI research.
